Qatar Airways is set to substantially expand their operations in Vietnam, with plans to introduce a daily Ho Chi Minh City service and the addition of Hanoi to its network.
The planned expansion will take the total number of Vietnam to Doha flights offered by the carrier to 11 per week, reports Saigon-gpdaily.
Three additional services to Doha will run from HCM City via Bangkok from November 1, making the carrier’s HCM City to Doha route a daily service.
The airline has already been offering four direct services to Doha each week from HCM City since March 2007.
The airline will also make Hanoi its second hub in Vietnam, effective from November 1. The carrier will operate four additional weekly flights to Doha, also via Bangkok from this hub.
The expansions demonstrate the confidence Qatar Airways has in Vietnam said Marwan Koleilat, Qatar Airways senior vice president, Commercial East Asia and Southwest Pacific.
“Qatar Airways is delighted to be expanding in Vietnam with the country forging ahead and experiencing rapid economic development,” he said.
Onward connections from the new Doha flights will be offered to destinations in the Middle East, Africa, Europe and the Americas, opening up the Qatar network to the Vietnamese market.“We have a serious commitment to the Vietnamese people not only to bring tourists to Vietnam, who will contribute to the economy, but to also provide the travelling public access a growing global network and world class airline services,” said Koleilat.
