Family Cruising brought to you by

Family/Value Cruising

Family cruising is one of the fastest growing areas of the cruise market and children are welcome on the majority of ships, with the exception of the very exclusive cruise lines, expedition ships and those specifically targeting an older clientele. Minimum ages on family cruises range from newborn to 12 months and most supervised kids’ clubs are open to children from three years old, however P&O Cruises UK, Carnival Cruise Lines, Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) and Star Cruises offer family cruises with programs for two-year-olds. Late night group babysitting is another popular service offered on family cruises for an hourly fee.

The best family cruise ships have facilities that rival theme parks with kids-only pools, amazing waterslides, mini cinemas, video karaoke machines and cool teen clubs serving mocktails and featuring junior DJs spinning the latest sounds. Family cruise ships also have age-specific clubs on offer with activity programs for kids from three to 17 years, as well as kids-only newspapers listing available events.

Private islands have proven very popular on family cruises. Disney Cruise Lines, Holland America Line, Carnival Cruise Lines, Celebrity Cruises, Princess Cruises and Royal Caribbean International all offer family cruises to islands in the Caribbean and Bahamas where kids often have beaches all to themselves.

The popularity of family cruising lies in the experiences and benefits it offers each and every family member be they parents, children, grandparents or families travelling together. Family cruising gives adults and kids the space and freedom they need as well as plenty of opportunities to have fun together, getting involved in activities like family karaoke, bingo, talent quests, trivia quizzes and beach games.
