MSCs Splendida is a gastronomic treat with restaurants and food and wine galore on a typical Mediterranean voyage

Ten years ago, MSC was a cargo shipping line. All that changed when MSC branched out into the burgeoning passenger cruise market and each year they’ve managed to launch one ship a year, each one bigger and better than the last. Splendida is their 10th passenger cruise ship and she comes at a time when cruising is enjoying record passenger loads worldwide.

It’s easy to see why.  Cruising is value-for-money, it’s hassle-free, you unpack once, you visit exotic locations, and you can eat and eat as much as you like. In fact,
MSC says food is the number one reason people choose to cruise.  On Splendida, passengers will be spoilt for choice at the four main restaurants on board.

La Reggia and Villa Verde specialise in Italian delicacies, Bora Bora Cafeteria has bountiful buffets and there’s a specialty restaurant called L’Olivo that takes you on a gastronomic tour of the Mediterranean every time you dine there. If that’s not enough, there’s the Santa Fe Tex-Mex eatery.

In the second of our video reports, Barry Matheson looks at  Splendida’s exotic cuisine.
