Official Santa Monica Ambassadors and TV personalities, Luke Hines and Scott Gooding are currently showing the best that Santa Monica has to offer to eight lucky incentive winners. The group flew with Air New Zealand into Los Angeles on the 22nd November and are currently enjoying a luxurious seven night getaway staying at one of Santa Monica’s premier properties, Le Meridien Delfina. Please find below an update of what the first couple of days had in store!
Day 1. The group met in Auckland in the Air New Zealand lounge and flew together to LAX. After arriving around 2pm at Le Meridien Delfina, they checked in and made a dash to 3rd Street Promenade for shopping. Later that evening, Luke and Scott joined the group at Del Frisco’s Grill where they toasted to a fun week in Santa Monica and feasted on seared tuna tacos, followed by deluxe burgers (or salads) and coconut crème pie. Craig Watson was heard saying it was ‘the best cheeseburger he has tasted in his life’! The group were excited to get to know Luke and Scott and learn about why they love Santa Monica – plus gain some insights into their rise to fame on the hit cooking show, My Kitchen Rules and the week of activities ahead. Later the group headed to local hotspot Brick + Mortar on Main Street for wine, beer and cocktails where they were seen chatting and getting to know the locals.
Day 2. The second day started with a trip to the local farmers market where they chatted to the local growers and producers. Rebecca was overheard by the Brussels Sprouts grower – which started some light hearted banter, ending up with Scott backing the grower in his defence of the healthy but unpopular vegetable. Next, they enjoyed the petting zoo with baby goats, lamas and ponies, ate market fresh produce and then followed Luke and Scott to one of their favourite juice bars on Main Street appropriately named Main Squeeze.
The group continued on to Malibu thanks to Malibu Discovery Tours, where they sampled wine from the local vineyards and learned all about the lifestyles of the rich and famous who can afford to live in the exclusive community of just 13,000 residents. The first wine tasting was at Cornell, near the quaint and little known Malibu lake hidden behind the Malibu mountains and canyons. Next stop was Kristy’s for lunch, which is a favourite for the local celebrities such as Charlie Sheen. The group then headed down to Malibu State beach for a photo op and headed to the last wine tasting at Rosenthal’s winery- where they enjoyed some live music and some novelty sized chairs.
