Travel Alberta has deemed its new experiential trade events a huge success following the final event on the weekend.
Travel Alberta launched “Experience Alberta Winter in the Canadian Rockies” in Sydney and Melbourne in June, inviting travel agents, wholesalers, business development managers and their companions to join Travel Alberta and Air Canada to experience classic Rocky Mountain winter activities, such as dogsledding, ice skating, northern lights displays and a live ice hockey match.
Exceeding all expectations, the events attracted over 200 agents and close to 100 companions.
“Overall the events were a major success,” says Lizzie Doyle, Travel Alberta Australia Marketing Development Director. “We’ve had some great feedback from industry and travel agents, commending Travel Alberta Australia for going beyond the traditional style of travel agent training by encouraging and enticing industry to become engaged in activities first hand.”
On arrival at each event, agents were provided with welcome bags featuring Travel Alberta merchandise plus winter wonderland, northern lights, white Christmas and ski packages packages from Destination Canada, APT, Scenic Tours, Adventure World, Momento, Ski Max and Travelplan, as well as material from industry partners such as Discover Banff Tours, Yamnuska Mountain Adventures, Canada Olympic Park, and Snowy Owl Sled Dog Tours.
Ten lucky agents who attended the events will be selected to visit Alberta with Air Canada in November 2014 to experience first-hand the winter wonderland activities the Canadian province has to offer.
