Universal Studios in Los Angeles has unveiled its brand new New York Street, along with several other attractions, after it completed a multi-million renovation brought on by an accidental fire in 2008.
The facelift means that visitors on backlot tours will once again be able to take on the streets of New York. To time with the completion of the restoration, Universal Studios will also be launching an upgraded Studio Tour which will include high-definition TV monitors in each tram car, new video content and high-grade digital audio systems.
For the film industry, the revamp of the site means that shorts of New York will now be able to be filmed in Los Angeles at the working film site.
Also opening with New York Street is the brand new King Kong 360-3D attraction, set to become the “world’s largest and most intense 3D” interactive theme park experience.On June 1, 2008, a three alarm fire broke out at Universal Studios Hollywood, destroying New York Street, the King Kong theme park attraction and a video vault.
