Central Station is being revamped into Memphis’ newest hotel

With the announcement that its historic Central Station will be transformed into a luxury hotel, the city of Memphis continues to evolve and breathe new life to old icons. Opening its doors this (US) autumn, the hotel will be managed by Curio by Hilton and has been designed to allow guests to experience the city as would a real Memphian.

The Central Station Hotel will offer a range of accommodation across 123 rooms feature incredible views of the historic South Main neighbourhood and Mississippi River. A nod to the city in which it resides, the hotel has quirky offerings including daily curated playlists available in each room, custom artwork, and Memphis inspired food and beverage offerings. The Bishop Restaurant will feature regionally influenced Southern cuisine and an extensive wine list that heroes smaller family-owned wineries, and the hotel’s bar and lounge will boast a one-of-a-kind Memphis inspired vinyl record collection.

The hotel’s six event spaces also pay homage to the building’s past without sacrificing modern detail and amenities. The Grand Hall, originally built in 1914, is the jewel in the hotel event spaces’ crown, has been revamped into a beautiful 6,000sq. ft. ballroom with an abundance of natural light and soaring 33-ft ceilings, finished with custom chandeliers and the beautifully restored arrival and departure board from the original train station.

Located in downtown Memphis, the Central Station building has watched over South Main Street for more than 100 years, and its new life will enable a new generation of visitors to experience its grandeur.

Sitting in a prime location just across the road from Earnestine & Hazel’s, the iconic Arcade Restaurant, and within walking distance of public transport, the Central Station Hotel is the ideal spot for visitors to explore the city of Memphis. Visitors to the hotel can also enjoy a short stroll into town to discover the National Civil Rights Museum, Central BBQ, Old Dominick’s and all that the bustling city of Memphis has to offer.
