In order to deal with the unprecedented air traffic during the FIFA World Cup this year, South African Airways has announced that it intends to increase capacity in order to operate around the clock during the cup period.
While exact numbers are yet to be released, South African Airways spokespeople have confirmed to local media that it intends to operate 24-hours a day during the World Cup period.
“We expect in the region of 350000 to 450000 visitors in the country,” said a South African Airways spokesperson to Business Day.
“SAA plans to run a 24-hour operation during the World Cup in order to accommodate scheduled match times and passenger movements around these,” adds another to The Times.South African Airways is working with Match, FIFA’s official provider of tickets, accommodation and logistics, to arrange transport for the World Cup.
