When and why did you join the industry?

I started working at Baron after I graduated from the university back in 1997 since then I have been helping travelers organizing holidays or taking them to unforgettable experiences.

What do you like most about your job?

The perks of traveling to different places around the globe, meeting people and learning their culture. Also, the opportunity to hear firsthand upcoming travel deals from airlines and special offers from hotels.

What’s one of the biggest achievements of your career so far?

Being able to provide for my family as well as and taking them to various places because of the travel rewards I get.

What’s the best advice ever given to you and who gave it?

A mentor once said, always keep your feet on the ground, to be grateful and be humble.

Who do you admire and see as a role model in the industry?

Former Tourism Secretary, Mon Jimenez. He created “It’s More Fun in The Philippines” and said, selling the Philippines should be easy as selling Chickenjoy.

What can people expect from your company and what sets it apart from the rest?

Baron Travel has been there forever and making sure to deliver the best and most cost-efficient packages to travelers. Our team is dedicated to providing on the highest quality of service and each member of the team undergoes comprehensive training programs.

What destinations are on your travel bucket list?

Locally, to visit Mindanao particularly Zamboanga and see the pink sand beaches. Internationally, South Africa and experience safari

What’s a memorable travel experience you’ve had (good or bad)?

To be able to visit (just recently) Jerusalem and last year attended a mass at The Vatican with Pope Francis.

What are three things you always take with you when travelling?

Rosary, book and chocolate

Name someone famous you’d like to travel with and a destination you’d like to go with them. 

The former celebrity and TV host, Anthony Bourdain and take him to more places in the Philippines and experience more local food.

What direction do you see the industry heading in over the next five to ten years?

Philippines is home to some of the world’s finest destinations. Tourism industry emerged as the 3rd engine of economic growth in the service sector. In 2018, we have increased the number of tourist arrivals to a record breaking 7.1 million despite the closure of the famous island of Boracay. The Philippine tourism continue to seek “high-value tourism rather than “mass tourism”. The Philippine government is doing its share by helping the tourism industry to achieve sustain its upward trajectory by building better infrastructures to foreign visitors.
