68 grants awarded in Nevada to lure tourism

The Nevada Commission on Tourism has awarded 68 grants, totaling more than $365,000, to rural communities in an effort to lure visitors.

The grants are awarded twice a year to public agencies, such as visitor authorities or chambers of commerce.

The Fallon Convention and Tourism Authority received $8,000 to promote its event, Tractors & Truffles.

Tractors & Truffles features locally grown food, agriculture tourism and rural arts and culture.

The Virginia City Convention and Visitors Authority was also awarded a $10,000 grant for a "Wild West" media tour that will include Elko and Ely.
