The Villa of an Aristocrat Trailblazer for Women’s Rights
Long before the #MeToo movement, history was being made at the Villa Spalletti Trivelli, where women’s rights were advanced. With its rich history in tact, the villa has been transformed to 14 glorious, luxurious rooms and suites that combine antiques with the contemporary.
As evident from its near perfect 5 star rating on TripAdvisor, placing it in the top .01% of hotels in Rome from approximately 2,000 hotels. This privately owned hotel is certainly exceptional for its class and doing many things right. Its memberships in the Small Luxury Hotels and Traveler Made networks are hallmarks for luxury travel.
With its high ceilings, grand staircase and antique collectibles, the villa exudes a sense of old world charm. This property is for those who seek peace and tranquility while enjoying authentic and understated Italian hospitality, and an appreciation for how the aristocracy lived.
A Historic Path for Women’s Rights
In the early 1900’s Villa Spalletti Trivelli served as an important venue to influence politicians on women’s rights. Through her vision, persistence and bravery, Countess Gabriella Rasponi Spalletti, went to great lengths to improve the status of women at the time, including the right to vote.
The Countess founded and held the presidency of the Italian Women’s Council for almost 3 decades. Given her status, she enjoyed privileged access to the political elite and used this position to the benefit of all women.
The grand library holds over 5,000 books in 6 languages, dating to the 1700s and is recognized by the ministry of National Heritage and Culture for its valuable collection.
Villa Spalletti Trivelli offers more than just elegant, luxury hotel rooms. It’s a unique way to experience the opulence and elegance of old-time Rome. The privilege to enjoy this villa is a unique experience and not for those who seek the cookie cutter type of property. An Influential Location
Countess Rasponi strategically built this villa adjacent the Presidential Palace and thus close to the center of political power, where regular weekly meetings with people of influence took place. A perfect location for touring, the Villa is in the heart of Rome and a short walk from the celebrated Trevi Fountain, world famous upscale boutiques of Via Condotti, the Spanish Steps and the Colosseum.
