Wyndham delivers over 800 books donated by ATHOC delegates to rural schools

Representatives from Wyndham Resort Denarau Island delivered over 800 reader books to three rural schools on Denarau Island last week.

The English books for children aged between five and 12 years were delivered to Ralete Primary School, Vaturu Primary School and Mulomulo Muslim Primary School following a donation from delegates of the (ATHOC) Australian Timeshare and Holiday Ownership Council during their recent conference on Denarau Island.

“Both students and teachers were delighted to receive the books, and we were very pleased to be able to deliver them on behalf of ATHOC,” said Brad Downton, General Manager Wyndham Resort Denarau Island.

Narewa Kindergarten, will also benefit from the ATHOC delegate’s visit with a FJ$2,400 donation that will be used for a much-needed refurbishment of the children’s toilet and shower block.

Every year, Australian timeshare operators attract more than 50,000 holidaymakers to Fiji who spend an estimate FJ$23 million dollars annually. Operators with resorts in Fiji include Wyndham Destinations Asia Pacific, Accor Vacation Club and Ultiqa.

“Fiji is a much loved destination for thousands of timeshare owners, and on behalf of the industry we are thrilled to be able to give back to the communities in which Australian timeshare resorts operate,” said Laura Younger, General Manager of ATHOC.

The timeshare industry makes regular contributions to Fijian communities through a range of charity programs, while resorts also run their own community initiatives.
