SAA announces schedule for replacement capacity for SA Express Operations

South African Airways (SAA) yesterday announced an extended schedule as part of the interventions to sustain the South African Express (SAX) network through replacement capacity for a year with partner airlines to support SA Express passengers.

The intervention comes after the suspension of SA Express operations by the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) on 24 May 2018.

Tim Clyde- Smith SAA’s Country Manager for Australia and New Zealand said “This is good news for the industry as the year-long schedule commencing yesterday, 29 May 2018, brings travel certainty and choice for customers.

“Through our collaborative efforts with partner airlines (SAA, SA Airlink and Mango Airlines), we are able to ensure business continuity for all stakeholders. SAA are confident that the capacity will sustain the network operated by SA Express until it is reinstated into service by the regulator,” said Clyde-Smith.

Along with its partners, SAA will continue to monitor the network and performance during this period and will make announcements as and when it is necessary to do so. Official communication channels will carry updates on the status of the flights on an ongoing basis.
