Disney Cruise Line has announced their culturally diverse, family-friendly shore excursions for the upcoming season in the Mediterranean.

Combining culture with unique Disney touches, the cruise line has put together Adventures designed to inspire both the young and the young-at-heart, along with adults-only options in each port.

Examples include an exclusive after-hours visit to Doge's Palace in Venice, complete with a Disney princess welcome, live musicians and courtiers in period costume and a unique tour of St. John's Basilica in Turkey where an "archaeologist" guides teams through decoding clues to find the missing piece of a tablet.

Adults will have the option to visit the Acropolis in Athens before embarking on a Greek culinary journey through Plaka where a local chef teaches guests how make delicacies including tzatziki, cheese pie and youghurt with honey using fresh, local ingredients or to create mosaics with an artist in Rome with the added touch of Italian wine, local cheeses and salumi.

Disney Magic will sail out of Barcelona on 12 Mediterranean voyages from 1 June 2013.
