Tourism representatives together with New Zealand High Commissioner to Niue, Ross Ardern, met in Niue this week to mark a changing of the guard at Scenic Matavai Resort and also to welcome in Saluma Hunt to the role of Chairperson of Niue Tourist Authority.
At Scenic Matavai Resort, Area General Manager Brett Inkster handed over the reins to incoming General Manager, Simon Jackson. Brett has been managing the resort’s changeover to Scenic for the past three months and now Simon will take over in the permanent role as General Manager.
The evening event also welcomed in Mrs Saluma Hunt to the role of Chairperson of Niue Tourist Authority. Niuean born and raised Saluma has spent much of her career in human resources and management in New Zealand and now returns to Niue to fulfil a dream shared with her late husband, highly regarded journalist Graeme Hunt, which was to create an island retreat on Niue. This dream will be realised in May when Saluma opens her Humu Island Retreat which will comprise two studio styled cottages in Niue’s northern village of Mutalau.
Niue Tourism’s marketing manager, Jo Kennedy, says the event marks an exciting new chapter in the development of tourism on the island.
