Alaska Airlines has been named the No. 1 on-time major North American carrier for the fifth year in a row in FlightStats On-Time Performance Services Awards.
FlightStats Inc. compiles on-time performance data on millions of flights each year, and releases the results in its On-Time Performance Services Awards.
No other major North American airline has received the prestigious award more times since the Portland-based company launched its on-time awards program in 2009.
Alaska Airlines chief operating officer Ben Minicucci, said that on-time performance is of great importance to the airline.
“Our employees work tirelessly to operate a safe and on-time airline because they know that behind these numbers are people getting where they need to be, on-time performance means more time with family, more productive business trips and an overall travel experience that ensures our customers keep coming back,” Mr Minicucci said.
FlightStats publishes its On-Time Performance Services Awards annually and evaluates flight data from the top 10 North American airlines.
FlightStats executive chairman and co-founder Jeff Kennedy, congratulated Alaska Airlines for winning the award five years in a row.
“We at FlightStats congratulate Alaska Airlines for their achievement of delivering outstanding on-time performance for their customers,” Mr Kennedy said.
“As a global leader in data services and solutions, FlightStats takes pride in maintaining the integrity of all airlines’ performance reporting and recognize what an accomplishment it is to maintain a level of excellence as Alaska Airlines has demonstrated in 2014.”
