Attract China LLC, the leading gateway to the Chinese traveler, announced today that it has entered into a partnership with Tencent, China’s largest and most popular internet service portal, to develop a Mandarin-language travel show that will showcase unique visitor experiences in cities across the United States.
“We have seen the priorities of the Chinese traveler shift from activities like shopping and group tours to more unique experiences, like a private dinner at a Michelin-starred restaurant or box seats to a popular local sporting event,” said Evan Saunders, CEO and co-founder of Attract China. “The show will give Chinese viewers an inside look at the best that American cities have to offer.”
The pilot episode will be filmed in Boston at the end of October where host Nicky Wu, a popular Taiwanese singer and actor, will partake in one-of-a-kind local experiences chosen by Attract China, including being part of the Boston Celtics opening game ceremonies and performing onstage with Blue Man Group. The fifteen-minute episode will air on a variety of Tencent online channels starting December 12.
“The Attract China team has a unique understanding of the visitor experiences that are most appealing to the Chinese tourist,” said Ira Chou at Tencent. “This, coupled with their knowledge of the American tourism market, is incredibly valuable to our production team.”
“We’re very excited to partner with Tencent on this TV project,” said Attract China Executive Vice President Michael DiCarlo. “With 70 percent of Chinese tourists now traveling independently, they are seeking out more exclusive activities and experiences that are unique to that city, and that is exactly what “Travel with Zuxin and Hong to Boston” is about.”
