Directioners get ready, because Harry, Liam, Zayn, Niall and Louis are coming to Dubai. Choosing the emirate as the region’s stop on their 2015 global tour, the world’s most famous boy band will join a list of international artists soon to be entertaining Dubai that also sees pop icon Lady Gaga and sell-out dance event Sensation arrive in the city.
The On The Road Again Tour, which will see the five-strong boy band visit music capitals around the world, will land in the emirate on Saturday April 4 2015 for one concert at 7he Sevens Stadium Dubai, which is expected to be a complete sell-out. One Direction’s Take Me Home Tour saw ticket sales reach 300,000 within a day of release, including six-dates at London’s O2 Arena.
The UAE date of the tour will expect 30,000 fans at 7he Sevens Stadium, with tickets on sale regionally from Thursday May 22 at 10am (6am GMT) from online and all Virgin Megastores. Sally Edwards, Director of Dubai Calendar, the emirate’s one-stop resource for information on music, arts, sporting and community events, said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming the most popular band in the world to Dubai. The emirate is fast-becoming the go-to destination for first-class entertainment, with the world’s biggest artists choosing the city as the region’s stop on their world tours. It’s certainly no coincidence that acts and events of such a high calibre are increasingly choosing Dubai, and we’re seeing more and more tourists visit the emirate on account of its unmatched entertainment offering. With One Direction joining Lady Gaga and Sensation in our line-up of upcoming events, Dubai’s residents and visitors can look forward to arguably the world’s biggest band, the world’s biggest solo artiste and the world’s biggest dance event.”
Starting the action, pop sensation Lady Gaga will be in town on Wednesday September 10 2014 at spectacular venue Meydan racecourse. Performing outdoors against a backdrop of the bright lights of the city, Little Monsters can get ready for a Gaga extravaganza as part of the ArtRave: The Artpop Ball tour.
The following month, Sensation, the world’s largest dance event, will make its first trip to the region. Following more than 100 indoor editions welcoming millions across more than 30 countries, Sensation will unveil its first ever outdoor edition in Dubai on Friday October 31 at Meydan racecourse. 15,000 general admission tickets are available for the event. Dance enthusiasts need to have their fingers on the pulse as the most recent Amsterdam edition sold out 45,000 tickets in less than two hours.
Sally Edwards continued: “The news that these events are coming to the city has already created a substantial amount of attention in the region and further afield, and we anticipate an influx of visitors as a result. Hosting such world-class acts is a key part of DTCM’s strategy to create a year-round calendar of events that appeal to visitors and residents alike. One look at the Dubai Calendar of events demonstrates the range and quality on offer throughout the year, whether that be in the areas of music, sport, the arts or community, and we look forward to further announcements in the coming months.”
Dubai Calendar, the city’s official bi-lingual resource for the best events Dubai has to offer throughout the year is the go-to guide for information about One Direction and Lady Gaga in Dubai, and the arrival of Sensation.
