This week, to celebrate 85 years of operations in Chile, LAN Airlines hosted its first ever fashion show in the sky onboard flight LA 634 between Santiago, Chile and Lima, Peru. During the flight, fashion models showcased LAN uniforms worn by LAN’s flight crew throughout the 1950s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and today.
“The purpose of this vintage inspired fashion flight is to showcase LAN’s 85 years of history via a fashion show of cabin crew uniforms that represent more than eight decades of dedication to providing the best travel experience to our passengers,” said Andrea Rotman, Director of Marketing for LAN in Chile.
LAN was founded on 5 March, 1929 by Captain Arturo Merino Benitez. In its first year, the airline transported 762 people, which at the time was considered a great success.
Today, LAN is a member of LATAM Airlines Group, one of the largest airline groups in the world in terms of network connections, providing passenger transport services to approximately 66 million passengers per year to more than 130 destinations in 22 countries.
From Australia, LAN Airlines now operates seven1 one-stop flights each week from Sydney to Santiago, Chile, the gateway to South America. Onward connections to over 115 destinations in South America, including Peru, Argentina, Ecuador, Colombia, and Brazil, are operated by both LAN Airlines and TAM Airlines.
LAN also offers non-stop flights between Sydney and Santiago every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday in a codeshare partnership with oneworld partner airline Qantas.
