The ground may have shaken, but overhead the clouds cleared as Tok Tok Vanuatu 2011 kicked off in Port Vila yesterday.
Celebrating ten years since its inception, Tok Tok this year brings together 53 overseas buyers with 71 ni-Vanuatu sellers at what is indisputably the country’s biggest trade show.
And business wasn’t the only thing making an impact, as a small, but not insignificant earthquake hit the area.
First time Tok Tok buyer, Pinpoint Travel Group product manager Helene Fish told e-Travel Blackboard the event had an interesting mix of products which would appeal to families, couples, special-interest groups or eco-friendly travellers.
“And the set up looks great,” Ms Fish said, in reference to Tok Tok’s outdoor village set up.
Buyer, Stefan Sorge of GTA Travel said Tok Tok compared well to other events in the region.
“You get to meet more bosses here [than in Fiji], which is god because business to Vanuatu has increased this year” Mr Sorge remarked.
“Many people know very little about Vanuatu, so this is a great way to shine the spotlight on our country,” the seller said.
“This is the destination.”
